Nice original leather Police shako with extensive markings internally. Very good condition but with general service wear as would be expected from an item of this period. Leather peaks to front and back are nice and secure to skull but some of the stitching is no longer present. Internal oval stamp shows a 1916 date, thus placing this item firmly within the period of the Great War. Postage costs will be heavily subsidised on this item, with charges of only €4/€5.

This is a virtually unique original piece of Irish Volunteer history to be offered on the market. A small trefoil (Volunteer officer rank insignia) stuck from brass and with two prongs to reverse, each of which has a single circular hole which was the way the trefoil was stitched onto an Irish Volunteer officer's tunic. The single veined three leaf shamrock is about two cms by two cms in size. This specific piece of insignia has excellent provenance since it's been in the Irish collection of three major collectors over the past thirty to forty years. Guaranteed original, this is not a copy.
Please also look at the wheeled cross and cloth shamrock insignia also listed and from the same source as this brass piece of insignia.
