
1914/15 Star, 1914 18 War Medal and 1914 1919 Victory Medals officially named to 4608 Pte W. Monaghan R. Ir. Rif.
The 1914/15 Star is named “7-4608 Pte. W. Monaghan R. Ir. Rif.” The “7″ before his number indicates that he was 7th. Battalion. Monaghan died of wounds received on 15th September 1916.

Copy of Soldiers Died included, indicates that William Monaghan was born in Sandymount Dublin, enlisted at Dublin and died of wounds in France and Flanders 15/09/1916. He is buried at La Neuvelle British Cemetery Corbie.
Copy Medal Index Card indicates theatre of war was France and qualifying date of his entry into France was 21/12/15.
Also included with the above research is a recently taken photograph of his Commmonweath War Graves headstone.
Note: the victory medal is correctly named and Monaghan’s number 4608 is clear, Pte. W. Mo *aghan R.Ir Rif also clear on victory medal. but overall some minor pitting on the naming on Victory medal edge where the name is. All other medals perfect and in great condition.
