Connaught Rangers “88th.” officer’s button. (1241)

Another hard to come by officer’s quality button to the 88th. Regt. of Foot – the  Devil’s Own - Connaught Rangers. This is an early example of an officers tunic button and according to Col. H.F.N. Jourdain in Vol. 2 of the Connaught Rangers Regimental History, such buttons were in use by Connaughts officers from 1860 to 1881.   Maker marked to reverse “Jennens London”. nice condition and retains some of its original gilt.
