A fascinating example of the Dublin Police (D.M.P. & Póiliní Átha Cliath pre 1925) carriage plate as issued to hauliers/hackneys etc by the long gone “Dublin Police”. The example on offer here was issued to “Driver 207″ and has the letters “DP” (Dublin Police) Also on the plate is the ”Three Castles” emblem of the City of Dublin. The metal plate is finely executed in black and white enamel. Two sided construction, this example shows signs of wear with chipping to some enamel at edges, not surprising considering how this item travelled the streets of Dublin attached to a horse drawn carriage.
