Scarce medal from the period of the Emergency (1939 – 46) in Ireland, reverse reads “26ú Catlán” In English – “26th. Battalion”. The 26th. Battalion was formed exclusively from men who had served during the 1916 Rebellion and/or subsequent Irish War of Independence.
Medal in wonderful condition, one of the finest examples I have seen. The brooch pin is maker marked “QUINN” on reverse.
