
An opportunity to own an item personally connected with Terence McSwiney, a hand written and signed cheque in his own handwriting, dated 20th. May 1920, just months before his death. Click on pic. for more images.
The cheque is made out to “The Little Sisters of the Assumption” for the sum of £10. Signed by McSwiney in his own handwriting. Countersigned on reverse “Mary Bernadette Superioress Little Sisters of the Assumption”. McSwiney was actively involved in the 1916 Rising and War of Independence, elected to the First Dail, Lord Mayor of Cork, died while on hunger strike 25th. Oct. 1920
