An original Connaught Rangers Christmas card from Gough Barracks Curragh Camp Co. Kildare, Ireland. This card is from Christmas 1912.

The card has a beautifully embossed front and is set on a buff coloured backgound. The central feature on the front is the gilt badge of the Connaught Rangers wtih a King’s Crown and below on a scroll is the battalion designation – 2nd. Battalion The Connaught Rangers.

To the left and right (top front of card) are the battle honours for Egypt (Sphinx) and Seringapatam (Elephant). The ege of the card is adorned with a silk ribbon with the regimetnal colours of wine and green.

The bottom front of the card has the date “1912”

The central message on the internal paper page, printed in green is very thought provoking:-

“As years to time their increase give,
May friends in closer Friendship live”

This message is followed by Seasonal and New Year greetings and then on the lower corner we see the reference to Gough Barracks, Curragh Camp.

The card is 13cms by 11cms.

The card is in unused and in great condition for paperwork produced in 1912.
