A hard to find button, this is a nice example of a Victorian era D.M.P. button in very good condition. Maker marked to reverse. See description and images for more details.

This attractive and well made button has a central Victorian type crown. The crown is surrounded by a strap with the words “Dublin Police” on the strap.

This example is maker marked on reverse “J. Ireland & Son” John Ireland had a premises at Ellises Quay Dublin. The firm traded during the 19th and well into the 20th century as suppliers of military and especially police items of equipment and uniforms.

This button measures just about 20mms in diameter. The condition is very good.
