Description

This cap badge is in excellent condition with two lugs to reverse. We know it is the first pattern as it has the older style Gaelic spelling of Síochána with the “t” between the “o” and the “c” .

This style of cap badge was worn from the foundation of the Irish State, with the later spelling (that’s without the “t”) coming in, probably around the late forties. It is likely that this example continued in service into the sixties or so due to the fact that it is chromed.
