Description
Here we have a service medal with bar for an extended period of duties during the Emeregency here in Ireland.
The suspender bar has the Gaelic script SEIRBÍS NÁSIÚNTA which tranlates National Service. The reverse of the suspender has the manufacturer’s initials PO & Co.
The obverse of the medal is a female figure represenitng Ireland with an Irish wolfhound and sword. The inscripion in Gaelic RÉ NA PRÁINNE translates – Emergency period. The reserve has a laural spray, the dates 1939 – 1946 and another Gaelic inscription which translates:- Irish Red Cross Society, First Aid Division.
