Excellent quality and condition, maker marked, large silvered tunic button once worn by an officer of the Kerry Militia circa 1855 – 1881.

Description
This large domed and silvered tunic button measures 25cms approx in diameter. It is in excellent condition with virtually no service wear.

The button obverse had a Victorain Crown above a large centrally placed shamrock. Underneath the shamrock is a scroll with a central “107” and the words “Kerry Militia”.

The reverse of the militia button is maker marked “Jennens & Co. London”

Based on the shape of this button, the “107” numeral and the rim around the circumference, we can conclude that this button can be accuraely dated between 1855 and 1881.
