A fantastic piece of horse furniture from a famous Irish Cavalry Regiment. This is a well struck brass martingale made from a single piece of brass. Good, heavy and a solid piece of insignia.
The martingale has two sturdy bolts to reverse for securing onto the horse leather trappings.
The obverse of the badge has the guelphic crown at the top. The central feature of the badge is the Inniskilling Water Gate/caslte with flag flying to the left. The circumference of the piece has the words INNISKILLING DRAGOONS.
A lovely piece of kit which most likely dates to the mid/late Victorian era.
