This is a splendid and totally original helmet plate of the Royal Irish Constabulary.
As seen in the pics. the helmet plate carries a King’s crown thus indicating a date of usage from 1902 up to 1922 when the RIC was disbanded.
This is an RIC constables blackened brass plate. Quite light in weight which is of course indicative of die struck original examples.
The plate on sale here has the bonus of coming intact with its original red cloth backing.
A fine example of an original RIC item that was worn during the most turbulent decades in the history of the RIC.
