The cap badge is an original bi-metal die struck badge. This brass and white metal badge was worn by an enlisted man in the Royal Dublin Fusiliers. The badge has two small circular “sweat holes” on reverse, located underneath the brass slider.
Sweat holes are a good means of developing a typology as their shape evolved from more rectangular holes in the 1890’s to small round type holes during the Great War. This cap badge as you will see in the photos have the small circular holes.
With this cap badge comes two matching brass collar badges. Again these collar badges are die struck from brass. They are identically matched and correctly faced set. The collars are in mint condition.
