Description

I am aware that this type of badge has been reproduced in recent times, so there are numerous re-strikes on the market. However, I am happy to authenticate this particular badge as an original, and am happy to offer a re-fund if not satisfied once you receive the item and return to me within the month.

Provenance is particularly important these days when acquiring items. I am happy to state that this badge came to me from a well established Irish militaria collection. This badge is fairly light weight and is evidently die struck, it is not a cast version. There is also some wear to the badge obverse, with loss of gilt finish. The back of the badge is nice and shiny suggesting that it was once on a glengarry.
The original north/south lugs are missing but have been replaced with a long single and centrally located lug.
This is a nice original piece of pre 1881 Royal Dublin Fusiliers memorabilia. See images for more details.
