Description
This is a scarce 1894 pattern officer’s tunic button worn by a commissioned officer in the Connaught Rangers. This button was worn on the scarlet dress tunic of the Regiment. A rare button to the Connaught Rangers.
The button measures about 22ms in diameter. It features an Irish harp above an elephant and all surrounded by a scalloped edge and a wreath of shamrocks. This is a nice gilt example. These buttons are exceptionally rare as they were inly worn by the Connaught Rangers for a brief period in the mid 1890’s.
To reverse the button is maker marked Jennens & Co. London.
