Description
This is a bi metal (gilt brass and white metal) multi piece badge, designed to be worn by a lady associated with the Royal Irish Fusiliers. Most commonly such badges were worn during the Great War by the wives or sweethearts of soldiers at the Front.
You can see on the reverse that the badge originally had its lugs removed and a safety clasp brooch fitting was attached for wear on civilian/female attire.
A wonderful piece of Irish social and military history from the 1914/1918 War era.
