Description

This is a post 1881 example of  the  Royal Irish Fusiliers (Princess Victoria’s) one piece, die struck brass badge for enlisted personnel of the Regiment.

This type of  badge is recorded in Kipling & King (Hedadress Badges of the British Army, Vol 1, Fig. 970) and described as an other ranks headdress badge on a racoon – skin cap comprising an eagle, laurel wreath, with a small table inscribed with the numeral 8 below the eagle. The badge is in very good condition and retains both lugs to reverse.

In terms of height, it measures 7.5cms by 3.6cms approx.
