Two scare “1923 pattern” Royal Ulster Constabulary, white metal buttons -officer quality. (1901014)


Two rare 1923 pattern, Royal Ulster Constabulary buttons, one large, the other medium sized. Both buttons are officer type, closed back and are formed from blackened white metal. Maker marked to reverse. Great condition.

The first button is blackened white metal with the words “Royal Ulster Constabulary” surrounding the Red Hand of Ulster. Above this we have the King’s crown. This officer quality button is maker marked “J.R. GAUNT & SON Ltd. LONDON” Good condition with some wear to highpoints. This button measures 22cms in diameter.
The second button is 19cms in diameter, it is similar to the officer button described above.
These buttons would be a great addition to any police collection. They are both very early pattern R.U.C. buttons, this style being in existence only for a short time after the formation of the R.U.C.
