Description
This is an original box that was used to issue War & Victory medals to those who were entitled to receive World War One medals.
The front of the box has the following types words “Pte. —– Conn. Rang.” The upper right hand corner of the box has the typed numbers “92”
The reverse of the box has the embossed words “——–sons, LTD. ——makers, Chesterfield” This is infact “Robinson & Sons Ltd Boxmakers, Chesterfield’.
These boxes were used to dispatch medals by registered post.
Sadly there was no medal in this box when I acquired it. However, it would be ideal to display any Connaught Ranger’s Great War medals with the rank of private. The box also contains the original brown envelope that contained a Great War medal. The box is in good, solid condition with some edge rips. The envelpe is torn along the edges. However, this is a great piece of Connaught Rangers history and the type of item that does not usually survive.
Please Note: this item will be dispatched by An Post, registered mail. Items posted to countries outside the E.U. and Northern Ireland, may incur additional charges.
