This fine medal was awarded for a long period of service (hence the two bars on the ribbon) with the Air Raid Precautions Service during the Emergency period in Ireland 1939/1946. A nice medal and in good untouched condition.

Description

The medal reverse has the inscription “Na Seirbhísí Réamhchúraim in Aghaidh Aer-Ruathar” (Air-raid precautions service), commonly known as the A.R.P.

On the front of the medal is a female figure representing Éire, with the Irish inscription “Ré Na Práinne ” which translates ‘Emergency Period”

The red ribbon with central white stripe has two service bars attached. These service bars carry the dates 1939 — 1946.

The upper suspension bar with pin attachment to reverse has the Gaelic words “Seirbhís Náisiunta” which translates National Service.

The medal ribbon is in very good condition but with signs of slight discoloration due to service wear. Nice age toning to the medal disk and bars.
